HEBREW NATIONAL ORPHAN HOME

ALUMNI

including

JEWISH ORPHANAGES IN THE UNITED STATES

dedicate these pages to the memory

of our dear departed "Brothers" with whom

we shared the joys and sorrows of our childhood.....

may they all rest in peace!

It seems so long ago since we were the orphaned, the displaced and troubled---for it was long ago we arrived at man's estate. Many have prospered; have entered diverse fields of endeavor; have reared offspring of whom they may be proud.

We give thanks for a heritage of our Judaic and American ethics and morality. Our hearts go out to the many wonderful philanthropic individuals---numerous Leagues, Auxiliaries, Medical and Dental Societies and Big Brothers who made all this possible and wish them joy in their golden years.

(EXCERPT FROM THE ANNUAL REUNION and INSTALLATION, SEPTEMBER 24, 1978)

Come join us and take our tour to the beginnings of the HNOH and allied Jewish Orphanages. You will learn all about us, our history, our memories and photographs from our childhood. There is all kinds of information including genealogy research. We will keep adding to this web site, so please keep coming back to visit us.

Because of many requests for information on Jewish Orphanages in the United States, a whole new section has been added. It now includes 23 States, 49 Cities and over 100 Jewish Orphanages with Historical and Archival information. If known, census lists of children's names are also identified. If anyone would like to submit any names, please contact the email address below.

Another section containing Orphans and Foundlings Interred in Free Burial in New York area cemeteries has also been added spanning the years of 1880-1920. As of now it includes 169 children with Genealogical Information and will be updated as new information is acquired.

A Directory Page has been added for finding a specific Jewish Orphanage or Services Agency by State, City and Date to see if any pertaining information is found on this site.
